This is the home page for the current year 12 BTec Media students at Acton High School. This Blog is to complete your research for Unit 31 Social Action and Community Media task 2 (P2, M2, D2).
The following are the requirements for this task;

You have been approached by Channel 4 and E4 and asked to create a pilot for a new Factual News Programme aimed at audiences aged 18 and under. The first episode will focus heavily on the Israel and Palestine conflict allowing younger audiences to understand the conflict from a different perspective. This will be a community based production focusing on how local young people and schools are affected by the conflict. The production will be up to 5 minutes long and will be accompanied by a campaign poster.

For this task you are researching your intentional ideas for your pilot of your factual news programme
•   General Research on E4 and Channel 4: (With some analysis of similar programmes e.g. Newsround, Channel 4 News, Sky News etc and also look at the community channel) Your research should go beyond these areas you need to look at; styles, presenters, approach, studio, language, circulation figures, current target audiences. With all the different shows channels you look at take images/screen shots, include links/embed video links etc. Get as much information as you can to help you with your ideas for your programme.

•   General Research on the key concept: Mind Maps; Themes and ideas, story-lines, that you could include on your programme linking the Palestine and Israel conflict; will you have a debate? Will you have narrative stories following families experiences? etc

•   How you will approach the style of your programme: Research into the issues and needs that you feel would be the most appropriate to reflect; Will you ensure your reports are balanced? Will you take an emotive stance or emotionless factual approach or a combination of the two?

•   Statistics and Theory: Make some reference to statistical and theoretical information to support your ideas for your proposal. Find some key stats and theory that support your ideas, e.g. how often do young people watch the news? What are general populations thought on the Palestine and Israel conflict? With all the information you find why will this be relevant for your programme?

•   Finally write a short proposal 500 words. Stating how you would approach a poster/video campaign and why with reference to the research you have completed.
